Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Personality:: Caedis is the perfect thief: quiet, unwilling to form emotional attachments to people, persistent and, most importantly, she has a great business sense. The last she’s spent years perfecting, bartering businessmen and the like, and has an acute knowledge of what to do in a situation in a customer and how to milk said customer out of as much coin as possible. It’s not like results are cheap, and she gets results.
Oddly enough, despite all her secrecy and unwillingness to open up, she has a secret love. Philosophy. In a way it’s helped her; not only does she have exposure to viewpoints other than her own, but her vocabulary and way of speaking are very sure and accurate. It gives her something to do when she’s bored. And, hey, some of her own thoughts and morals have been affected by the teachings in odd little ways. Such as her patience level; it takes a lot to aggravate her, and when she is it’s usually at herself and not some other party.
History:: It’s her present that’s a lot more important than her past. Born into a small village in the middle of nowhere that no one really knows about, she actually has a relatively easy life. Apparently born on a lucky day and with a different name, she was able to get away with much more than the average child. It was there that she began learning thievery, eventually getting to the point where most didn’t realize she was there. Of course, back then it was all fun and games and she would give it back.
Thirteen was the turning point of her life. Her parents seemed to want to force her into a marriage with a man three times her age and who had a bit of money. Two nights later she disappeared from her home and into the night. Once she reached the first settlement she changed her birth name to something that she thought suit her better and separated her from her parents. She never went back there.
It was then that the thievery wasn’t games and she needed to do it to survive. At first, Caedis only took things she needed, but as she realized the crimes went unsolved she became more daring, stealing things she would like to have such as books. Her love of philosophy came from here. And, always, she kept moving.
A few years later it seemed like people were wanting to contact her for numerous reasons; some to arrest her and some to hire her. She entertained some of each, finding amusement in the ones who wanted to deliver her to justice. Eventually, though, she realized how perfect this situation was. People would pay for items and information. She could get both.
It was a slow business at first, but she never quit. Finding documents to reveal a corrupted noble here, finding proof of a husband of wife not being faithful there. Again it was fun and games, and she got to keep the gold she got. And cue her little information and thievery life of choice, knowing that she may be one of the most well informed people. And what people were willing to pay for that information.
Is there anything else you wish to tell?
Place of Residence:: No where, she just wanders.
Weapon of Choice:: Anything and everything. She does have a special preference for short swords and daggers.
Special Abilities:: Shapeshifting.
Family Members:: In her mind, she has no family, due to reasons of her own.
Who is that, hiding behind the screen?
Your Name:: Famine
Nicknames:: …famine
RP Experience:: 5-6 years. Roughly. And with a lot of breaks.
RP Example:: Both knew the dance of business well. No pleasantries, no distractions. Get in, get out, quick as possible before a guard or someone got suspicious. After all, not too many honest people conducted business meetings in rough, dimly lit taverns.
She’d been sitting at the table for a few moments when her customer walked in. She knew this; she’d seen the woman walk in before taking her place. Caedis only had enough time to swing her feet onto the table and lean back in her chair before the other woman stormed in, body and face covered with a hooded cloak.
That wasn’t out of the usual, either. The only reason Caedis wasn’t wearing one was because she wasn’t afraid about someone turning her in. After all, she couldn’t do her job if she was in jail.
She also didn’t have time to say anything before the other woman spoke. “I want you to prove who I am.”
Odd request. Caedis wasn’t going to ask any questions. “And, how exactly, do you plan on me doing that? Do you even know who you are? Or what I’m trying to prove?”
“I do.”
A hand came from the cloak, but it wasn’t the hand that interested Caedis. It was the gauntlet. Spiked, heavy looking, clawed fingers. Typical scary thing that people kept away from unless they wanted to make a statement. From the little light in the room, she could tell it was brass… or bronze.
Bronze. Of course it was bronze.
With this new knowledge, Caedis leaned back further, a lazy grin spreading across her face. “And what are you willing to pay for this… information?”
“Anything.”
Caedis’s grin turned deadly.
