The rain started coming down fast and in buckets. Quickly Ith pulled her hood up over her head, but it was already soaked. She watched as Brian set up a makeshift tent to protect him from the rain, and without asking for permission she slide in nex to him. She hugged herself to get the chill out of her bones. After a moment she realized that her and the soldier were very close together and the color sprung to her cheeks. To hide the sudden flare in color she rubbed her cheeks of the raindrops, hoping that he hadn't noticed.
"So, how long do you think this rain will last?" She asked, a slight edge to her voice, she didn't like being so close to the man. Their confines were too close for comfort, but she would have to stick it out in here or else she would have to sit in the rain.
She pulled her hood off of her head and shrugged off the cape, hanging it on a nearby branch that was under the canvas to dry. Ith could feel goosebumps forming on her skin and she supressed a slight shiver even though with their combined body heat it was rather warm under the tent.

Zak made himself comfortable under the tent. He wasn't shy. Trying to pick foodstuffs out of his teeth with his tongue, he stared out of the tent and watched the rain pour down. It was kind of nice, taking a break, but he didn't really want to be approaching that village at dark. He would potentially be seen as a threat, and that wasn't really something he wanted to deal with.
When Ith spoke, Zakari turned to look at her. He wasn't an old woman who could predict the weather, but this storm didn't appear to want to let up soon. "Oh, probably a fortnight." He smiled and shook his head. Time wasn't something he liked to pay attention to unless it was well spent.
Zak watched as Ith removed her cape and noticed the effect it had on her skin. Demons must have had problems producing body heat... Or maybe that was just a chick thing. Standing up silently, he walked over to Beast (who was finding shelter under a different tree) and grabbed a dry blanket. After running it back over to the tent, he crawled back in and handed it to Ith.
"It may smell a little bit like horse, but it'd be just about as warm as that cape." [/blockquote]

Oh, now he is going to be the hero... Ith thought vehemetly to herself as she watched him leave the cover of the tent and return with a blanket that he chivalrously handed to her. Pausing for a moment she smiled at him and took it, but inside she was boiling. He probably thought he was so awesome.
Reproachfully, Ith wrapped the blanket around her and sat down on the leaf litter, moving into the farthest corner of the tent as she could. She was not happy with his prediction bout the rain and when she looked out to assess the situation herself it only appeared as if the rain poured down harder and the wind blew more swiftly. The gods must hate me. Dark thoughts swirled around in her head; she was stuck in the rain and with this self-obsessed and bear obsessed soldier and his horse without a horse of her own miles away from the nearest village. It made her angry.
She looked sidelong at Brian in the dim light of the tent, and she was disgusted to find herself almost smiling at him. To distract herself she buried her face in the blanket, she didn't care that it smelled like leather, sweat and horse.

Well, this was boring. Zak leaned back against the tree and made himself comfortable. A nap sounded wonderful, but with a Ith in such close quarters he didn't really want to take one. Forcing himself to stay awake, he simply closed his eyes and relaxed. Though he was not going to stress about the current situation, he did want this rain to end quickly.
By how fast the storm was moving when it had come in, it would probably be over soon enough. He didn't expect it to last longer than an hour, though it would probably let up in a little while. After a few moments of laying back with his eyes shut, he opened them just in time to see Ith bury her head in her blanket. Zakari smiled again and sat up.
"How long have you been in this area?" Zak felt the need to talk. They had to do something to wait out this storm, and he figured talking would be a legitimate way to pass the time. [/blockquote]

Ith looked up from the blanket wen she heard him move. She had to think abou his question. "Umm...I've only been here for a little while, but I have been through these woods a few times before. And what about you, 'rugged traveler'? How long have you been here?" She said with mock interest, putting her fists on her hips and pretending to look all heroic. If he really was a traveller like he had said Ith assumed that he would have been here before, it would only make sense. A small laugh escaped her lips and she quickly covered her mouth with her hand. How is he doing that?! Ith raged silently in her mind, he was making her act like a little girl! This needed to stop.
Gripping the blanket she pulled it tighter around herself and looked out into the rain. She prayed to all the demon gods she knew that the storm would let up shortly; she needed to get away from this man as quickly as she could, his handsome smile and kind words were messing with her brain. Lips pursed together Ith wondered mirthfully if maybe he was a demon and all his words had been used to cover up that fact, it certainly could be a possibility as far as Ith knew. Her eyes glanced sidelong at him and the thought of eating his sould had become more tempting, but if he was a demon like she had speculated then it would be dangerous to try.
A heavy sigh escaped her lips and she rested her chin on her hand, deciding to count all the little drips at the edge of the tent, just something to distract her.

"And what about you, 'rugged traveler'?" [/i] Immediately after that was said Zak snorted and fought back a laugh. He was rugged alright, if you were talking about his face. He desperately needed to shave that thing. Blowing a stray strand of hair out of his face, he smiled once more. "I was actually raised in this area, so I used to know it rather well. When I left, however, I didn't intend to come back. This is actually my first time back in the area in about three years." Zakari wasn't compelled to lie about that fact. He was, after all, a dwarf. He liked the nature and everything around here, but he liked taller women than the dwarves could offer. That and the little munchkins knew how to push his buttons, leaving him royally pissed off every time he actually ventured into Syeria. He hated that blasted place more than he hated cold porridge, and boy did he hate that. Spoiled as he was, he had no reason not to expect better.[/size][/blockquote]

Ith mulled over what he had said, and then it hit her. "You are a dwarf?" It was the only explaination for him being raised in the area. She looked at him carefully, she always had thought that dwarves were...shorter. "Kinda tall to be a dwarf aren't ya," Well now she knew he wasn't a demon and that she could eat his soul if she wanted to but the thought made her sick. He had been kind enough to her to offer her shelter from the rain and to lead her to the next village, and the thought of killing him didn't sit well with her. Oh well, she thought. I'll have to wait and find some idiot to eat later....
Ith was thinking about recent events and revelations when she realized that the rain was starting to let up, only falling in a drizzle and not a down pour. The wind had died down and the sky had lightened considerably and a big smile spread across Ith's face. "Look," She mumbled, pointing to the entrance of the tent and out into the rain. Now they would be able to get moving again, and Ith's heart felt a little lighter.

It was at that moment that Zak wanted to pout and crawl in a corner. He shouldn't have been ashamed of his dwarf heritage, but when he thought dwarf he didn't think pretty. That was the main reason why he liked to think of himself as a human.
"I have mixed blood." Enough said, Zakky boy. That resolved the issue of dwarfism, and he moved on mentally. It was best not to dwell on the subject of dwarves for too long or he was bound to get emotional and rather melodramatic. He wanted to save the melodrama for other people, so he brought the bright mood back and noticed the weather change as soon as Ith had. Perfect.
Zak crawled out of the tent and stood up, smiling. May the odds be ever in my favor... He was picking up on a nearby spirit (or was it another demon?) but he ignored the mental signs. There was no doubt in his mind that he would be fine from here on out. "Well then, up and at 'em!"
As Zak was making his way across the now wet and muddy path to get Beast, he misplaced his foot and fell right on his ass.
In the center of a mud puddle.
A rather hilarious sight for any that may have been watching, but he wasn't very amused. Mud was not his friend, and the two tended to avoid each other.
"Today is simply not my day." [/blockquote]

Mixed blood? Ith's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Ok, so he could be part demon, but would that make him taller than an average dwarf? Ith didn't think so, she wasn't going to press the subject for he appeared to not want to say anything more concerning it.
It wasn't long before the rain had almost completely stopped. Brian had shimmied out of the tent and Ith crawled out after him. Once she was in the misty air she stretched her sore muscles. When she heard the splash she looked over and saw Brian sitting in a mud puddle, obviously having fallen in. The look on his face was priceless and Ith burst out laughing, she was glad that it had been him an not her, maybe things were going to turn around after all.
Quickly she walked over to him and offered her hand to help him up. Her face still beamed with amusement. "I'm sorry that you feel that way Brian, but if you remember, both of us aren't having the best of days today."

Ith was laughing at him. Despite being proud of making her laugh, he was still rather upset that his ass was soaking in dirty water. When the woman came over and offered her hand, he opted for payback. Immature, literally dirty payback. He picked up a big, gooey glob of mud and flung it at her.
Zak smiled mischeviously. He felt better now. His problem had been resolved, and that was truly great; how Ith would react he didn't know, but he was sure he was in for it. What kind of woman enjoyed getting mud thrown at her purposefully? He had no idea what he was getting himself into; the unknown was rather intriguing, and what would happen next could definitely be described as unknown.
Despite the terrible feeling of soaked clothes, Zak didn't bother to stand up just yet. Depending on how Ith reacted, he thought he may want to have more mud on hand. He was already dripping with filth and figured it couldn't get too much worse. All would be well so long as Ith didn't mess up his hair. [/blockquote]

Ith gasped when the cold mud splattered against her chest. She looked from the mud to Brian, mouth agap and then dipped down to the wet ground and scooped up her own mud to hurl. Taking aim for his face she heaved the ball of mud. As soon as the mud let her hands she turned and fled, lauging as she did. A nearby tree became hast cover and after stiffling her giggles she peeked around the tree to see what had become of Brian.
She hadn't done anything like this in, well, ever. She had never played with anyone that she could remember. Childhood was pretty much a blur to Ith, she didn't remember having any friends and she didn't have any siblings either. And Ith had to admit to herself that this was the most fun she had had with anyone ever.
Again she peered around the trunk of the tree and called to Brian: "No retaliation?! Come on Brian!" She called, her voice light and happy.

SPLAT!
Zak wiped his face off as if he was irritated, flicking mud from the tips of his fingers. To be completely honest, he was one hundred percent surprised that Ith was actually enjoying this situation. If she kept this up, Zak would probably have to change his views on demons.
Well, at least some of them. It took Zakari a moment to get up onto his feet, but once he was there, he wasn't wasting any time. He scooped up a couple of handfuls of mud and spied Ith almost instantaneously; he walked toward her, trying to seem a bit intimidating but coming off as more playful than anything else.
"Come on, now. Hiding doesn't seem like something you'd want to do. Come out here and take it like a..." Zak didn't want to say 'take it like a man', because he didn't want to offend her. He had to figure out something to replace it with that wasn't completely rude. "Take it like a... A bear?" Zak laughed lightly and flung some mud at Ith. It wasn't a very good shot, but the tree being in his way didn't really help.
Zak's cheeks were starting to hurt from smiling so much. [/blockquote]

Yes! Ith thought to herself when she saw her mudball hit its target dead on. Now she needed to re-arm herself. She looked around for more mud and was bout to grab for some when she heard Brian speak.
"Take it like a...bear."
Ith was almost bent over double from laughter. A bear? Really? "See, I told you you were obssessed with bears!" She dodged his throw easily and ran away, trying to find a better place to hide. Looking around Ith discovered the perfect spot. As she ran to it she slipped on the wet earth and fell to her butt, but she quickly got up, not caring about the mud and made it to her hiding place. Behind Brian's horse.
"You wouldn't throw mud at your horse now would you?" She giggled, making sad puppy eyes. Gently she stroked Beast's nose and rubbed her damp cheek on his soft fur. "He is going to protect me from you." Ith smiled wickedly and then broke out into another fit of laughter.

"It was simply the first thing that popped into my mind. A mental face palm was required at that moment in time. He never should have chose a bear. It was better for bear to have slipped out than the word 'demon', though. That would have just let to one huge mess. Still holding onto his other handful of mud, Zak ran after Ith and started laughing once again when she ended up falling as well.
They were acting like a couple of twelve year olds, but he didn't mind. Though it would be rather hard to explain to the average passerby, he doubted there would be any, so he continued his mock assault.
When Ith hid behind Beast, Zak had to think this over carefully. He would get her with his mud, but he wasn't sure how he was going to get around his giant horse that happened to be huge enough for her to maneuver around quickly and still be completely covered by the massive creature. It was then Zak got a brilliant idea. She could kiss up to Beast all she wanted, but he knew his true master.
Though it disgusted him, Zakari placed his fingers in his mouth and let out a high pitched whistle. Beast's ears perked up and he removed himself from Ith's grasp and trotted over to Zak, who was grinning like a fool.
"I win." He threw the mud. [/blockquote]

Ith made a pouty face when Beast quickly trotted over to his master's side, leaving her copletely vulnerable. And when the cold splat of the mud hit her in the lower jaw Ith realized how foolish they were being. Quickly she wipped off the mess as best as she could and stalked over towards Brian and stuck her tongue out at him.
"Don't you think we should get moving again? - At least before it gets dark." She nodded, indicating the still cloudy sky. Then she looked down at herself in disgust, she wanted to wash herself up before they moved on."I want to get cleaned up, is there a stream or anything close by?" Back when she had been traveling on Mar she had had to cross a small stream, but that was way back in the direction they had just come from and Ith would tolerate no back-tracking; that would only mean she would have to spend more time with the dwarf.
