Al gave Caedis a quizzical look. He found it rather odd that a girl such as she was into things like dancing and philosophy. "That's definitely not what I had expected you to say, you know. I would have never guessed that you were into philosophy, of all things."
The question was directed more toward animals and favorite colors, foods, and other such common things. This was giving him something to think about, though; his brain was becoming more and more active pondering the things he actually didn't know about her. She was clearly not an open book, other than the fact that he now knew that she had some rather nasty habits, thieving being the one that rang out to him the most.
Quirking a brow as she threw the last snappy statement out there, Al couldn't help but to chuckle in spite of himself. That inspired him to think of some kind of an unruly question that would probably get him smacked. He would save that bit for later.
"You think I'm into that romantic crap? Pssh, as if. I'll have you know that.." Al trailed off. Did he really want to advertise to her his pathetic and dateless life? No. So it was best that he didn't finish that thought unless he wanted to be harassed for quite a while.

From his expression, she guessed that she gave him a little more than he actually wanted to know. No matter. Not like Caedis cared; she answered the question how she interpreted it. No harm done in adding additional information. Of a sort, anyway.
His trailed off sentence made her raise an eyebrow and fight to keep a grin from spreading across her face. What was he going to say... probably something about being alone or whatever. Not that he needed to state it, but how defensive he got at any negative comment made towards him showed just how he was used to treating him.
He was the weak, the picked on, the bottom of the food group.
The prey.
And she was a predator, one who has been in a few rough spots but has been able to claw her way up again. Who hopefully won't have any more falls.
The animal in her wondered why she was talking to him. Weaklings should be abandoned to do whatever it is that weaklings do. It is the way of the world.
But this weakling saved her, the more human part of her snapped at the animal, causing it to go hide again. She would humor him, sure. Possibly thank him. But associate with him further than what she felt necessary? Probably not. Hopefully not. Why was she trying to make excuses for herself?
Ripping herself away from those thoughts, she answered him what seemed a moment too late to actually be able to do so. "Would you like to count that as your last question?"

Al noticed her thinking things over and took the opportunity to sit down and lean against a nearby tree. It was comfortable and it provided him the support he didn't have at the moment. He just wanted to take a nap and have a stress relief session, but that would not happen; he could tell that this situation was probably going to intensify again and that he should probably keep quiet and take deep breaths while he still could.
The anger and feeling of unease would return, and they would be fighting again. Sure, it would be fun and all, but he was pooped. This was the last time he saved someone's life for three effing questions.
The man's green eyes shot open as Caedis opened her mouth to speak again. Al barely remembered what he had said before due to his groggy state of mind, but he shook his head fiercely.
"That question was rhetorical. I think I already know your answer to that question, anyways." Al glared at her bitterly and looked down. He didn't know why he was randomly so... pitiful... but he got bored with being explosive sometimes.
"My third question is one that I'm not going to as right away." He looked up and gave her a mischievous smile. "I'll ask that particular one later one. I promise you that."

He was going to save it? Why...?
Then again, he knew her name. He knew what she did. Given he was a Rider and they had a network system that sometimes wasn't as legal as it claimed to be, at least one person he knew would know a way to contact her. Well, if they stopped bullying him long enough to tell him, as his defensiveness suggested.
What, was he going to keep it for later? A convenient way to get free info? Maybe.
Caedis didn't think he was smart enough for that.
Shrugging in a manner that suggested she didn't care, she figured it was then her turn to ask things. "So what now, smelly?"

He quirked a black eyebrow and took the 'smelly' comment into consideration. He could make this awkward and rather uncomfortable, depending on how she decided to take it. This one required thought, so it would have to wait to escape the depths of his seemingly dusty brain.
"I don't know why you're asking me this. It's like you plan on following me or something. I actually planned on following you." Al enjoyed being a creeper, and he figured Caedis did too, being a thief and all. Might just as well enjoy the little things.
After a moment's silence, Al stood up and looked at the sky. "Since I smell so awfully terrible, though, I suppose I should probably go take a bath somewhere. You're welcome to come, of course, if you think you could handle it."
He was kidding, of course, but he kept a very straight face and the tone in his voice begged to differ.

"I don't know why you're asking me this. It's like you plan on following me or something."
It was her turn to raise an eyebrow at that. With some effort she lifted her wounded leg into the air, cracking some of the blood that had dried over her leg. What, was he going to make her hobble around and follow her from a distance, laughing?
The bath option did sound nice, though. Especially since she's been asking for water to clean her... minor inconvenience in the form of a snake bite for awhile. "You're going to have to carry me."
Caedis had a feeling he was bluffing. He didn't seem sure of himself most of the time, and not once in the entire time she'd known him (which was, like, what, two hours? Maybe less?) had he been serious. Even when she was bleeding out in her arms and dying, he was joking. Or perhaps it was only to keep her awake, since she couldn't resist making fun of him when he set himself up for it.
Not that it mattered much. He offered a bath. She wanted it.
Simple.

"That's outrageous!"
'That's a big word for you.'
"Shut up, Tia!" Al threw a rock at the dragon. She batted it away with her tail with ease, laughing on the inside. That was one of the major drawbacks of having a link with her. She had a wonderful sense of humor.
Brushing the incident off, he looked back toward Caedis. "Maybe I should just fashion you some crutches out of a fallen log and my intestines." Al blinked lazily. He wanted to go do something besides sit here, but he didn't really want to carry her. Then again, that was why he had a dragon.
He shot a quick look at Tia and smiled slightly. Now all he had to do was get her onto the dragon and find a decent place to dump her off so she could take a bath. He was thinking a branch of the river, because the ocean didn't sound too fun. He would usually just go home, but his mother was there at the moment. He didn't particularly feel like introducing her to a girl and then being forced to do random, menial tasks for her.
His mother drove him up the wall, more so than anyone else.

So there was something about that arrangement that he didn't exactly like. While Caedis had no idea, she figured it had to do with the carrying part or the part where she actually wanted to join him. The second should have been obvious; she has been asking for water to clean the damn bite for awhile.
His intestines though... that was a little overboard. Even for him.
Still, it wasn't like she was going to let an opportunity to ridicule him down. "Just because you haven't seen it before doesn't mean that I haven't." An eye roll, just because it fit. "If you're really that sensitive, I won't look."

Al blinked repeatedly. What the hell was wrong with her? She was supposed to be all like HELL TO THE NO! And then snap her fingers or something. The answer had surprised him, that was for sure.
"What are you even talking about?" Al was genuinely confused about the whole situation; he had not even the faintest idea of what she had meant by those sarcastic comments. He looked at Tia.
Though it was impossible for her to do a palm face, she wished that wasn't so. She desperately would have liked to do one at that moment in time. If Al wasn't being a temperamental red head, he was being a dumb blonde.

Was he honestly... From the look on the dragon's face, Caedis was pretty sure they were having similar thoughts. Namely, that the boy was an idiot and that the boy was an idiot.
How could he not get that? It was like the line every guy used on skittish women.
Fighting the urge to actually call him an idiot or facepalm or simply stabb herself and finish what the snake started, she raised her eyebrows slightly. It was hard to keep her eyes from rolling, too, but it had to be done for this to work correctly.
"Well, since it's unlikely you've seen a woman undressed before since you look so young, I figured that's what caused your... most recent outburst."

"Oh, please! Who says I've even wanted to see a woman naked?!"
Sweet mother of God, did that one come out wrong. The next thing that came out of his mouth was a nervous laugh. Perhaps thinking before he spoke was the better idea, after all.
Sexuality wasn't really an issue for the ginger; he didn't really care for anyone for his dragon and he figured he'd know when he found someone who he may have been interested in. Unlike the other guys who were all over women, he didn't really give a shit about sex and the like. Al found the sexually active males rather odd, unless they were married.
After all, what was so great about that? He hadn't the slightest idea.

From the look on his face, Caedis doubted he wanted to say that. But pass up an opening that great? It would be criminal.
"See, you shouldn't have any problems with it if you're interested in men."
She shifted slightly, trying to get comfortable on the hard, hard ground. Not that it would work, she knew, but it was worth a shot. The pain from the wound, though, wasn't leaving quick enough for her liking; she felt herself growing paler and didn't want to look down to see what it was doing.
"Look, kid. Why don't you carry me there and on the way we can talk about attractive men?"

It was quite obvious how Al was feeling by simply looking at his face. There was not a single word going to come out of his mouth for the next hour, he swore to it.
Hard to tell if he could last an hour without losing his temper having an ornery old injured badger accompanying him, but that was a chance he was willing to take. Maybe he could do it. Tia would probably think of it as being quite the accomplishment.
It was well worth not speaking for an hour.
Impatiently, he grabbed Caedis and slung her over his shoulder like a large sack of potatoes. Screw being gentle; the only thing it would really hurt was her middle. As far as he knew, that felt fine! Treat others how you would like to be treated, right?
Haha.

Apparently he'd learned his lesson. Just spouting out stupid things was probably going to get him in trouble one day. Wait, was she actually trying to help this kid in some really indirect manner? Caedis furrowed her brow --
And he picked her up and tossed her over his shoulder like a sack of flour. A mix between a grunt and a growl left her as the air left her lungs.
Well, so much for wanting to help him.
She took a few minutes to decide what she wanted to do. Kneeing him in the stomach would be a good payback for his careless handling of her, but it might be funnier to grope at his backside...
Why not both?
Both was always good.
Just which one to do first...
Minutes went by before she finally got tired of him jostling her around and, probably, hitting every dip and rise he came across just to be able to dig his shoulder further into her gut. Her uninjured leg swung back then forward, knee bent at an angle where it would hurt but not do too much damage.
"Here's a tip. If you ever capture someone and hold them like this, hold their legs. If I could walk, I'd show you how easy it would have been to get down."

Al had no doubt in his mind that Tia would know where to follow him, so he didn't bother to communicate with her. He was bound determined to be as quiet and as rude as possible.
This route to the river wasn't as frequently traveled as some of the other paths; the undergrowth and clusters of vegetation spoke for themselves. Al didn't care. He tromped through it all like it was nothing, simply having to strategically place his footsteps so he didn't trip.
All was going well, until he was oh-so-kindly kneed in the gut.
Aw, thanks. I love you too, you selfish ass. Words could not describe how badly he wanted to throw her and just leave her laying against a tree.
Too bad he couldn't bring himself to.
Not only did his temper flare, but his mood darkened. Not that it wasn't dark enough, mind you. He shook his head and kept moving. He had no intentions of kidnapping someone, so he didn't need her helpful hints on what to do and what not to do.
Without speaking, he pinched her leg and kept going. Actions spoke louder than words, right?
